Lessons from the wise virgins: They Took Extra Oil

Text: Luke 4:1-2, 14, 1 Thess.1:5
Unlike the foolish virgins, the wise virgins considered that they didn’t know how long into the night they would have to wait, so decided to carry extra oil to make sure they kept their lamps lighted. In addition to the knowledge of God’s word, the power of the Holy Spirit is the extra oil you need to overcome the works / activities of satan. The Holy Spirit knows whatever new thing satan is up to per time and friendship with Him helps you achieve beyond what you can achieve with just the knowledge of God’s word. Recall that Jesus promised to send us the holy spirit when He was leaving, who ‘will teach us all truth’ (John 14:26). He sees what you don’t see so He uses His knowledge to teach you how to have fellowship with the right people at the right place .right time at all time.
Once you are armed with God’s word and the spirit of God breathes on it by interpreting that word to you, you will be able to make better and more informed decisions.
Pray: Lord by the power of your Spirit, I will overcome fellowship with darkness everyday till Jesus returns for me, in Jesus’ name, amen.
