The hopelessness of living life only for the present
The hopelessness of living life only for the present
1 Corinthians 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
There is more to our Christian profession than what we gain in the present. Many employ the grace of God to a certain capacity without a recourse to eternity. They spend their most treasured commodity of time on things that are ephemeral and earthly-bound. This is pitiable and a cause for sober and deep reflections for us to re-order our priorities. We must understand that the whole essence of our reconciliation to God is to spend a few years on earth in diligent service to the kingdom and afterward be united with God in eternity. Therefore, it is needless for us to put the affairs of this life topmost in our heart while neglecting the things that matter- Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
We must never be found to allow anything to come between us and our Lord, obeying all His commands and being ready for His call. Our lives must entirely be drawn to Him and our gaze completely focused on Him that the things of this life become second-place and dependent on how our Lord would order us to use them- Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If you will be perfect, go and sell that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Another aspect for consideration is the aspect of present suffering. There’s nothing unpleasant that we may pass through on earth that can compare to the paradise that God has prepared for us- Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Therefore, we must bravely sojourn here on earth braving the storm with a sincere hope of heaven.
VERSE
What you need is holiness and righteousness
To access the city gate of heaven
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord
Or who shall stand in his holy place
He that has a clean hands and a pure heart
When the roll is called up yonder
Father, please let me make the number
Let me see you
Let me touch you
Let me hold you God
CHORUS
I wanna go to heaven, to heaven, yeah
I wanna walk on the street of gold
Like the way I’ve been told, yeah
I wanna sing, Halleluyah
When I see ya on that day
I wanna go to heaven, to heaven, yeah.
