Benefits of constant, focused gaze on Christ

Benefits of constant, focused gaze on Christ

Hebrews 12:1,2.

Many elements seek to distract our attention from our sole purpose of seeking the Lord. Any form of activity, ambition, or profiteering that appeals to the flesh are weights and besetting encumbrances that seek to take the prime place in our decisions, how we spend our life and time, and the source of our livelihood. We must be Conscientious as to plug any avenue through which these elements gain their unwanted dominance and we must ensure continuous submission of our mind and body to the Spirit of the Lord for spiritual auditing and accountability- 1 Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

There is the much-needed virtue of patience and godly resilience that help ensure an optimum decisiveness in staying in the place assigned for the ultimate “looking” upon the Lord. Many rush out of this assigned place of steadfast fellowship and graceful encounter with the Lord in search of their daily bread and sustenance, forgetting that “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God”- Matthew 4:4. We must possess the staying capacity to remain before God while He orders our life and give us the grace to accomplish His divine purpose and plan- Psalms 85:8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not return to folly.

The continuous transformation of our lives is dependent on our focused attention to the person of Christ. Our lives become conformed to Him as we continue to behold and wait on Him. He takes us through the process of pruning, shedding, curating, molding, thawing, or incubating as needed until we assume His desired state for His ultimate use. Even after we are made, we still need to continue to come to Him daily for renewal, refreshment, and endowment of more gifts and enhancements.

Meditation

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
