The Ten Commandments – The 9th Commandment
The Ten Commandments – The 9th Commandment
Text: Exodus 20:16-17, Deuteronomy 5:20-21.
Memory Verse: “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. – Exodus 20:16
Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbour
Bearing false witness means to lie to someone or lie about someone. God told the Israelites not to bear false witness about their neighbours; this means they should not lie to or about their neighbours. We should be careful how we speak to people and how we speak about people when they are not around. God wants us to always tell the truth no matter what because He is a God who loves truth. So henceforth, before you talk about people, make sure what you are saying is the truth. Don’t cook up stories and call it “white lie” or “small lie”, God hates it. Also, when you are not sure of something that happened or you were not present when it happened, don’t go around telling people “assumptions”. You are bearing false witness if you do so.
Prayer: Help me Lord to be like you at all time in all of my dealings
