The Oddity Of Godly Parents Raising Ungodly Children
The Oddity Of Godly Parents Raising Ungodly Children
1 Samuel 8:1-6.
Bringing people from darkness to light seems to align with the divine order of life but when people born right into righteousness grow up to become children of darkness, it is an aberration and a great oddity.
Samuel’s children, Joel and Abiah were raised and trained by Samuel with the hopes of taking over from him as Judges over the people- I Samuel 8:2. Unfortunately, his children became enticed and dishonorable. Their lives entirely contradicted that of their father- 1 Samuel 12:3, 4. Their lives eventually became an outlet through which the children of Israel advanced their pre-conceived demand for a king- 1 Samuel 8:5. This same oddity was subsequently expressed in so many lineages of the kings of Israel.
The end of the children of Eli and Samuel remains a great lesson to all parents in raising their children. Parents must ensure to do all it takes to bring up their children in God‘s way- Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4. Raising godly seeds, either biologically or spiritually, is a great outlet to the furtherance of God’s kingdom on earth. That’s why the enemy fights against the raising of godly altars in Christian families and congregations.
How to prevent this oddity:
-Raising children in the word of God and prayers: Genesis 18:19; Matthew 19:13-15
-Nurture them in the tenets of godliness: Ephesians 6:4; 2 Timothy 3:15
-Guard against exposure to bad or ungodly company and companions: Proverbs 1:10, 15; 4:1-27.
-Spend quality time with them: Acts 20:31
-Provide for their needs: 1 Timothy 5:8
-Live an exemplary life for them to imbibe: 1 Thessalonians 2:10
-Rebuke them in love: Proverbs 3:12; 22:15; 23:13; 29:17.
