Salvation Story (II)- Man is reconciled to God
Salvation Story (II) – Man is reconciled to God
Text: John 1: 1, John 1:14, Ephesians 2:13, Ephesians 1:7
Memory Verse: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace”. Isaiah 9:6.
We previously discussed the fall of man and how he became unable to live in a way that fulfills God’s plan. The consequences of the fall of man are really bad and we can see their effect in our lives and everywhere we look today. But God can never be defeated! And though it was frustrating for a while, God’s plan to restore mankind came to pass. In His wisdom, God took three tremendous steps to carry out His original plan of imparting His eternal life into us so we could share his life and be like Him. Let us look at the steps God took to restore man back to Himself:
1. God became a man named Jesus Christ: In John 1 verses 1 and 14 tells us of the step God took to restore mankind to Him. After Jesus Christ came into the world, He lived without sin and became a perfect and unblemished sacrifice that would bring redemption for us.
2. Christ died on the cross to redeem us: Jesus Christ’s main reason for coming was to die for our sins. John the Baptist declared it in John 1:29. As the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ was sacrificed for us on the cross. This was God’s second plan to redeem mankind from sin. Ephesians 1:7.
3. Christ rose from the dead: Christ’s death accomplished redemption but that was not the end of the story. Jesus Christ rose from the dead and defeated death! The third step in God’s plan of salvation is Christ’s resurrection. In resurrection Christ who was crucified for us is now alive forever and is living in us through the Holy Spirit.
