You Need Some Tears
All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2Tim 3: 16)
From this scripture, we are admonished that the word of God is not just for promises alone but also a great tool for correction and reproof which often bring tears and pain. Are you always excited only by shouting amen to prophetic declarations but never ready to listen to the instructions, reproof, and corrections of God?
While we know the gospel is good news and many of the messages should be good news to all, you won’t be fair to the word and to God if you only cherry-pick the scripture. Be ready always to listen to the whole truth, read the whole truth and embrace the whole truth in the scripture. All sermons should not be listened to with the intention of what you will receive from the Lord only but instead asking the Lord for areas that require correction should be your daily prayers as well. If you fellowship where the word of God only gives blessings and never a reproof be sure you are not where the whole truth is preached.
If every time you study the word of God or listen to sermons you are always excited only, it may be an indication that you never listen to corrections and reproofs, because if you embrace these truths from the word of God, it will surely bring tears. The Bible even confirmed that reproof is not admired but grievous but always yields a peaceful fruit and if something is grievous it brings tears.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby Heb. 12:11
Therefore beloved, don’t be looking for promises only in the Bible, look for correction and reproofs as well, let the whole truth of the word of God be your focus and pillars, the word of God does not stand only on the pillars of promises alone, it also stands on the pillars of reproof, this is the only means you can be properly furnished unto good works. Today is the word of God correcting you? Embrace it even if it brings tears, it will surely lead to joy.
