Will you also go?
Will you also go?
“From that time, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, will ye also go away?” (John 6:66-67)
One question every believer must ask himself is whether he’s among the multitude or he’s a faithful follower of Christ. The multitude are not committed, they don’t believe in the master’s plan. They follow either for personal gains or because others follow. Conversely, an ally understands purpose and is ready to give his all for the course of the Master; an ally bears the burden of the Master.
From our text, we can clearly differentiate an ally from the crowd. Believers don’t work away from their Master because they are not in the course for selfish reasons. They appreciate the love of Jesus Christ. Sadly, we are in a time where Jesus Christ has been popularized as a transactional deity. He is said to be the One that gives jobs, cars, children and other things to people who just show up at church without laying their sins at the foot of the cross and staying with Jesus.
In Matthew 19:16-22; we saw yet another version of followers. These ones understand the law. They are moralists; they’re never on the wrong side of the law but they do not have the ability to obey the Master aptly because they have rejected the grace of our Lord Jesus. These ones are never follower of the Lord.
We must examine our lives, identify what category we fall into, and make amends. Meanwhile, the question yet remains, will you also go?
