Christians uprightness

Christians uprightness

“Then the president and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.”  Daniel 6:4

There’s an expectation from every believer. Even unbelievers have a particular standard expected from Christians, but when a Christian falls short of this, he is ridiculed by unbelievers who even act worse. This is because a Christian is expected to be upright- portraying the example of Christ in his daily living.

In Acts 11:26 we could see that the disciples were called Christians because of their lifestyle. They fervently followed the footsteps of Jesus. In Daniel 6:4 the  need for a Christian to be upright can be clearly seen. We will be just like Jesus Christ who was tried but no fault was found in Him. The best messages are preached not by our words but by our actions, inaction and general lifestyles. When we live like Jesus, He fights for us and we have direct access to Him. This does not mean that we will not be tried but we can be rest assured that we will come out of every trial victorious.

The issue of uprightness has been downplayed in today’s church and this is why the church is becoming like the world in speech, dressing, character and mode of operation. We need to go back to the days where a Christian is identified even before he confesses that he’s born again as the fruit of the spirit is made seen in their lives. Today, should we desire to be like the Christian of old, who were upright and kept the standard uncompromisingly, we must also live in strict uprightness in perfect obedience to God where fault can not be traced to us in open nor in secret.

Meditation

1 Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God’s command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel’s Band!

Refrain:
Dare to be a Daniel!
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known!

2 Many mighty men are lost,
Daring not to stand,
Who for God had been a host
By joining Daniel’s Band. (Refrain)

3 Many giants, great and tall,
Stalking thro’ the land,
Headlong to the earth would fall,
If met by Daniel’s Band. (Refrain)

4 Hold the gospel banner high;
On to vict’ry grand!
Satan and his host defy,
And shout for Daniel’s Band. (Refrain)
