PURITY MATTERS
PURITY MATTERS
Hebrews 12:14
- What is purity or holiness?
Purity or holiness is a state of life declared void of sinful trait by God, and having the nature of God furnished in such a life. Purity is a state of being without any sin, and God’s yardstick for holiness is the same across. From the definitions above, we can agree that purity is a prerequisite to the kingdom life. Hebrews 12:14- Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.
- What are the characteristics of holy people? Give Biblical examples.
One of these is a lifestyle to please God, Heb 10:9. Another is Life committed to doing the Father’s will. Also traits of holiness in a true believer include obedience, sacrifice, heavenly minded, humble etc. We see Biblical examples of Enoch, Joseph, and Daniel etc.
- Can holy people lose their holiness?
What are the things that can make holy people lose this holiness?
-Sin
-Stop looking unto Jesus or walk away from Jesus and the grace unto salvation which He gave.
Because the day a plant stop receiving sunlight or get uprooted and stop receiving nutrients from the soil, it starts to die immediately.
- Many tag certain denominations as holy people, does this mean God has different yard-sticks for different denominations?
God’s requirement of holiness was not given to any denomination or set of people.
His requirement is to all men, Micah 6:8- He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God.
1 Peter 1:16 (KJV) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
- Are there “grey areas” on matters concerning purity?
God’s expectation from us is perfection. There are no dull-lines or shades of holiness. It is God-form in and out. Matthew 5:48 (KJV) – Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
- In conclusion, May the Lord help us all to attain His status of holiness in our lives and our daily walk with Him in Jesus name Amen.
