How To Stay Within The Boundaries of The Word of God
The temptation to build a doctrine because something worked at a time is high in our generation. The Bible warns; “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”. Yes, someone used that method and “something experientially wonderful” happened but it does not make it God’s real avenue for divine intervention. It is not a method but obedience.
At some points, holy water were used to cast devils out in Church history but God’s real method was to dwell in men and not in things, hence, Holy water lost its power. Truth never changes.
“And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.” 1 Corinthians 4:6. The Bible warns ” Learn ” not to go beyond what is written”
CHECKLIST FOR CONFIRMING AND ABIDING IN THE TRUTH:
- Truth are written continuously, consistently and persistently in the scriptures.
- Truth proclaimed continuously, consistently and persistently as a lifestyle for those who have faith in the God of the Bible (The ESSENCE of truth in the old testament shows up clearly in the New Testament projecting that the same God said it all).
- Did the Apostles or disciples emphasize it or practice it (the weight they place on a matter should help you know its value to faith)? Can you find a direct reference (s) to it ??
- Does it offer any position that transcends any culture or personal bias and stating clearly that it has a divine purpose or intent?
- Is that doctrine clearly defining God’s position, human need, God’s provision and the human dependence on God’s provision perpetually?.
- Does it promote grace and self control (GRACE AND TRUTH AND LIKE SIAMESE twins…GRACE EMPOWER AND TRUTH by LOVE CONSTRAINS?
- Is it full of righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit?
Ask yourself as you go out today if God’s word is leading you?
