The Complete Overcomer
Text Ephesians 6:10-18.
Life is spiritual, and the battles of life are not optional. Everyone fights one way or another. Every individual’s battles are different and vary in measure. Many face the battles of life already defeated, but for us as believers, we must determine to fight valiantly with divine support to be victorious over the enemy- “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”.
Satan, the believer’s arch-enemy does not relent in his effort of waging warfare against humanity, and more aggressively against believers. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5: 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. The very verse following prescribes the believer’s foremost weapon of warfare- His faith, 9- Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Our fight is that which comes to us daily from within us and without- 2 Corinthians 7:5 our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. We must make all efforts to ensure that we depend constantly on the grace of God which makes us strong against the enemy. God has made provisions of all weapons needed to overcome but the daily duty of arming ourselves with them falls to us- Ephesians 6:11. Through the atonement of Jesus Christ, God has provided us with Truth- (Psalm 15:1, 2), Righteousness- (Luke 1:74,75), Soul winning- (Daniel 12:3), Faith-(Hebrew 11:6), God’s word- (Hebrew 4:12), Salvation- (Titus 2:11), and Constant prayer and supplication- (Luke 18:1).
All of these weapons must always be fully worn to constantly overcome the enemy. They are designed to counter and attack the enemy’s continued onslaught against us. The enemy is always on the prowl, looking for weak points to concentrate his attack. Therefore, we must ensure watchfulness and vigilance at all times to stem his attacks.
