Deliver Us From Evil Part 2
Deliver Us From Evil Part 2
REFERENCE SCRIPTURES: Matthew 6:13 “…deliver us from evil…”
- Fighting The Fight.
The Bible enjoins us to fight and not flee away from fighting. 1Tim 6: 12 – “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
But before fighting there is a need for spiritual orientation. This is done to inculcate in the Christian civilian the discipline, training and mentality of a warrior. This is not a battle in the physical realm but for soldiers well-schooled in the army of the lord in the spiritual realm.
Warfare battles are often won or lost before the first engagement. In the war rooms, strategies are developed, evaluated, and decisions made are deployed that ultimately reveal the victor. Our manual, the Bible, reveals the record of a victory already determined and decided, through the incarnation of Christ, life, death, and resurrection, God struck a decisive bow and declared victory over Satan and the forces of darkness.
Romans 8: 37-“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].” Christ’s coming is a paradigm shift in this ancient war that predated you and myself. Revelation 5:2-5 “I saw in the right hand of Him who was seated on the throne a scroll written on the inside and on the back, closed and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel announcing with a loud voice, Who is worthy [having the authority and virtue] to open the scroll and to [a]break its seals? And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth [in Hades, the realm of the dead] was able to open the scroll or look into it. And I began to weep greatly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or look into it. Then one of the [twenty-four] elders said to me, Stop weeping! Look closely, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome and conquered He can open the scroll and [break] its seven seals.”
- What does the scroll represent?
The scroll in the hand of God represents man’s failure from Adam until now, a record of Satan’s war against humanity and the purposes of God. It contains every sin, war, grave, defeat and misery of the human race. And no one could open- not the Seraphims, watchers, Cherubims, 24 elders, strongest of the angelic host and those beings even yet to be discovered or revealed.
The throne represents authority, judgement and government.
The tears of John (a representative of the human race) are your tears and mine- the heartaches of every person who ever felt crushed by failure. The unopened scroll speaks of human inadequacy as no one could open the scroll of human bondage. Not human power, wisdom and education could prevail in this case. Here is a record of Satan as the demons wreak havoc upon humanity and the planet. Isaiah 14:12- “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations.”
Isaiah 14:17- That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners. May God set every captive free, on the platform, from the bondage of the evil one in the name of Jesus, amen.
Here comes the Deliverer! Yeshua A Maschiach! The price of redemption was written on the scroll.
1. A near kinsman, Jesus Christ, became a human that He might redeem us.
2. The kinsman must be able to redeem which Jesus did with His Blood.
3. The kinsman must be willing, Jesus willingly suffered for our freedom.
Revelation 5:5 “And one of the elders saith unto me, weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.”
The Lamb prevailed (nikao) meaning OVERCOME, CONQUER, VICTORY and TRIUMPH. Jesus did prevail once and for all. He is not coming to re-prevail. Each of the individual Christians in Revelation is called upon to overcome and prevail. The Enthroned Life cannot be attained without warfare and overcoming.
Rev 3: 21 – “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” And this is only possible but not by education or title but by the Blood of the Lamb. Revelation 12:11- “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb*, and by the word of their testimony and they loved not their lives unto the death.” And note that they live the life of a martyr, they were willing to pay the ultimate price for their faith.
Physical death is actually not the finality of all things.
Revelation 21:7 – “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”
Our future inheritance is tied to spiritual warfare!
- In conclusion, Jesus thank You for making us understand that we need not relax at this time. Help us to be battle ready all the time. Give us Grace to carry-on till we take the final breath in Jesus name, Amen.
