Our Faith Vs Their Faith (Part II)

Our Faith Vs Their Faith (Part II)

We’re still journeying on this densely packed topic: OUR FAITH VS THEIR FAITH (What has changed since the time of the Patriarchs). This topic is quite weighty. It’s an obvious fact that between their faith and ours, there’s a great difference, a deviation too gross to ignore. The Lord wants the body of Christ to retrace her step back to the template of the Apostles.

IN YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE CHURCH HISTORY, WHAT WAS THE EXPRESS DEFINITION OF THE FAITH OF THE PATRIARCHS? I will say their faith was original. What they received was very practical and I will say that they were ever ready to receive the word and act on it without looking back.

Let us look at these questions and ponder on the answer the Holy Spirit provides.

  1.  What did the Patriarchs stand for?
  2.  What was their focus?
  3.  What was their intention?
  4.  What was the place of their ambition?
  5.  What defined their identity among the people of their time?
  6.  What was their symbol?
  7.  What was the societal view about them?

They stood for nothing but the Faith and Doctrine of Christ which was delivered unto them.

Their focus was not cumbersome but simple and that was Jesus. They intended to have Christ and Him alone glorified. If we capture these and many more, then we will be able to know what we have lost in our midst. We will be able to discern our ailing state. We will be able to know the gravity of what has dropped off our hands.

What is the comparison of their attempts to build men to building structures? What we see playing out right now is part of what has defined our faith. While their focus was on God, our focus these days are on gifts and things. Our pursuit has been shifted and our aim has been alloyed. Our heart has been dealt with badly. It is a shame that we don’t resemble our fathers; It is worrisome to realize the species of Christians on display now; It’s a pain to the heart, seeing and living with a mutated little Christ.

The place of personal ambition was nowhere among them but the place of communion and fellowship was prime. Little wonder it wasn’t difficult for God to get their attention to/on matters when it matters and they could easily navigate from Galilee to the upper room without returning or calling home. They lived a detached life from things that cumber us today. They were used by God to achieve His plans for their generation. Mathew 6:10. Today, we are using God to achieve our plan. That is why MMM, TWINKERS, and all fraudulent Ponzi activities can thrive within the Church. They don’t share self-centered prayer points like us, they share burdens. Our father’s focus was to come and encounter Jesus.

There is no comparison between the patriarch’s hunger for God and ours. All their attention was geared toward building men- “I commit you to the Word of His grace which is able to build you up”; ours is to build physical structures. Some of us are in a denomination where they are building some structures and their entire focus is set on achieving the completion within a specific period. Honestly, they take the completion of such projects more seriously than winning and building souls. Only God will help our faith because the truth is that some Christians are converting to Islam despite all the evangelism done, I think it’s only the Holy Spirit that will intervene.

Today, our Faith is making men more loyal to the denomination than Jesus. We must be sincerely angry and play our role to correct this VIRUS in our Church. In some Churches today, there’s no message. Churches are full of activities, with little or no time for the Word. It is difficult for many Christians to understand the real gospel, but we know all the gospel of our Churches. This will continue if we do nothing, many of us are more fearful of our denominations than Christ. Worst still, many of us are distracted by so many things in the world. The situation today calls for us to rise as an Army and defend the territory of our God.  Until the day we stop playing religion and are ready to do things to please Christ alone, we may not experience the Faith of the patriarch.

In this forthcoming Solemn Assembly please don’t come with wrist watch, even if you come with it, don’t check it because we are going to be synchronizing with heaven in our prayers until He births something in us. We must be bold fearless and carry the presence of God. standing for the authentic gospel.

We’ve all seen and realized what a fractured and decaying Christianity we live with.

Summarily, it is time we rise into that which God intends for us to rectify and return to the template long thrown out of the church. This must turn into a burden for us, to set things in order back to the Patriachs’ prescriptions. God wants to raise us as Paul who will rebuke Peter sharply, to heal a subtle decay.

Meditation:

1Faith of our fathers, living still
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword,
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
2Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,
Were still in heart and conscience free;
And blest would be their children’s fate,
If they, like them should die for thee:
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
3Faith of our fathers, we will strive
To win all nations unto thee;
And through the truth that comes from God
Mankind shall then indeed be free.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
4Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife,
And preach thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
