Why did Jesus Come (VII) – Freedom From Shame
Why did Jesus Come (VII) – Freedom From Shame
Text: John 4: 14-15, 28-30
A woman who had committed sexual sin with several men met Jesus, she accepted His offer of eternal life, and IMMEDIATELY her shame-filled life was changed, it seemed like a new charge of electricity entered her life – she became unashamed, unafraid and so bold that ran out to tell all the men in her city about her past wrongs and about Jesus. She told them how, even though He knew of all her past sexual sins, He was willing to accept and change her life. She must have been super excited to know that she could face men again without feeling ashamed or having to hide herself. Her past was past and she was a new person now. Do you know how Jesus took away shame? When he hung on the cross without clothes (nakedness represents shame), the shame you deserved became His own while His glory(the opposite of shame ) was provided for you, but it was delivered to you only at the instance when you repented of that sin and confessed Him as your Lord.
PRAY: How can I ever pay you Lord Jesus for dying naked because of me, I will never take it for granted Lord, help me to remain thankful in Jesus’ name, amen.
MV: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10b
