Assurance of Christ Presence
Psalm 139:7-10
Key Text: “If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” (PSALM 139:8, KJV)
There are many assurances for the children of God: the one they cannot get from a mortal man.
The presence of God in the midst of His people brings a great rest and assurance of a secured life. The psalmist, having gone through different situations of life could testify of God’s presence as an assurance of salvation. Recalling of His goodness, says “if I ascend up to heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, thou art also there.”
Oh, what a confidence of peace it gives to God’s people. An assurance that Christ is with us puts our soul at rest and our heart is filled with joy. Even when there are challenges, the Lord is with us. When like the three Hebrews, we are thrown into the burning furnace of affliction and sorrow, and the heat is seven times greater than what we could bear, we can make our bed and rest for we know that the Lord is there with us, and nothing shall by any means hurt us.
Christ’s presence wherever and in whatever situation is the key to our victory. In times of trouble and affliction, He relieves and delivers us; and though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, He is there to guide and guide us and safely bring us out. Therefore, let your soul be at rest for the Lord is right beside you.
Reflection for the Day: Jesus Christ will never leave nor forsake his people.
