Uncommon commitment to God’s service
Uncommon commitment to God’s service
2 Chronicles 1:7-12.
Commitment is the act of taking charge of an assignment or a principle with utmost sincerity and allegiance. Committing to a cause means we become bound to ensure the successful outcome of the cause. This character is what is required in steering the affairs of God’s kingdom to a reasonable destination. Solomon demonstrated this uncommon trait as seen from the text when he got a rare opportunity from God to “ask what I shall give you”. Despite the huge/immense relevance placed on riches, wealth, honor, victory, and long life, this man asked for grace to serve the people and purpose of God. This is the level of commitment that is required of us today if we are to fulfill God’s agenda of establishing His kingdom on earth. Our commitment to His service must trump our earthly allegiances and our chasing after the ephemeral things of life. No matter how pleasant and attractive it is to possess all the goods of this life, not that this is wrong or sinful, our commitment to God and the service He bids us must supersede our grip to any temporal inducement of worldly gains – Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.
We must beware of lip service and grand emotional gestures riddled with half-hearted consecration and hypocrisy- Matthew 15:8-9 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth and honoureth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, Teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Christ vehemently rejects such characters and we must also beware of this among God’s people. There are great rewards for acceptable service in God’s kingdom both earthly and eternally – Matthew 6:33; 2 Timothy 4:7,8. There’s also the satisfaction of fulfilling our God-given destiny and living out His assigned purpose on earth- Luke 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
I pledge allegiance to the lamb
With all my strength
With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
I have heard how christians long ago
Were brought before a tyrants throne
And they were told that he would spare their lives
If they would renounce the name of Christ
But one by one they chose to die
The Son of God they would not deny
Like a great angelic choir sings
I can almost hear their voices ring
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
With all my strength
With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
Now the years have come and the years have gone
But the cause of Jesus still goes on
And now our time has come to count the cost
To reject this world, to embrace the cross
And one by one let us live our lives
For the One who died to give us life
Till the trumpet sounds on the final day
Let us proudly stand and boldly say
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
With all my strength
With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
To the Lamb of God who bore my pain
Who took my place, Who wore my shame
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
With all my strength
With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb (With all my strength)
With all my strength
With all I am (With all I am)
I will seek to honor His commands (I pledge allegiance)
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb (To the Lamb)
With all my strength
With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
