The Rule Of Life
The Rule Of Life
Judges 13:12.
From the text, we see Manoah (Samson’s father) conversing with an angel about the promised birth of Samson. He asked an important question for our consideration: “What is the boy’s rule of life?” Judges 13:12 (NKJV). The Lord, in His magnanimity and love, has provided life for all, and especially life eternal for those who have come to know Him by the way of the cross- John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. But, there is always a rule or a set of rules which guides the retention of this eternal life until the perfection of our salvation.
Many strive to enter into the kingdom life, but they soon relax and slack off, and no sooner are they defeated and plucked out of their place- Matthew 13:4-7. One important rule of life for a Christian is “abiding”- John 15:3-7 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me… If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (vs 4,7). Abiding in the secret place of fellowship with God in prayer and the word is sacrosanct for every believer’s growth and optimization of God’s grace for victory.
There are also some characteristics outlined in 2 Peters 1:5-7 such as faith, knowledge, patience, charity, etc. that we are to employ for spiritual fruitfulness. These characters exude the glory of the divine life in us and bring ultimate fruitfulness in life and ministry. 2 Peters 1:3,4,8-10 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall (vs 8-10).
1. Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth;
Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardor
Into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example,
Dauntless was He, young and brave;
Give Him your loyal devotion;
Give Him the best that you have.
Refrain:
Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth;
Clad in salvation’s full armor,
Join in the battle for truth.
2. Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart;
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave;
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
Give Him the best that you have.
3. Give of your best to the Master;
Naught else is worthy His love;
He gave Himself for your ransom,
Gave up His glory above.
Laid down His life without murmur,
You from sin’s ruin to save;
Give Him your heart’s adoration,
Give Him the best that you have.
