Heroes of Faith: Joseph’s Journey (II)
Heroes of Faith: Joseph’s Journey (II)
Text: Genesis 45:1-15.
Memory Verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
Joseph the interpreter of dreams: While Joseph was in Potiphar’s house; he grew into a fine young man and was tempted many times by Potiphar’s wife who wanted him to commit the sin of fornication with her. His response to her in Genesis 39:9 shows that Joseph loved God and was never going to compromise. Potiphar’s wife was relentless and kept tempting Joseph. He kept refusing and this made her lie that Joseph raped her; when Potiphar heard this; he got angry and sent Joseph to prison. While in the prison; God granted Joseph favour with the keeper of the prison Genesis 39:21-23. After some time in the prison; he met the King’s chief butler and chief baker who later had different dreams. Joseph was able to interpret their dreams and everything happened as he told them Genesis 40:8-23. The King also had a dream that none of the magicians in Egypt could interpret; this was when the chief butler remembered Joseph and told the king about him. After interpreting the King’s dream and giving him good advice, Joseph was made the Prime Minister of Egypt Genesis 41:1-57.
From Joseph’s experience; we can surely say that he passed all the tests of faith excellently well. From when he was betrayed by his brothers to when he was accused by Potiphar’s wife and thrown into the prison to when he was forgotten by the chief butler; Joseph never stopped believing and trusting in God. I doubt that many people in this generation will be able to scale through these tests like Joseph because they do not have faith in God. Henceforth, no matter what we go through in life; let us never stop believing in God. Keep the faith alive and watch God reward us as his word says in our memory verse Hebrews 11:6.
Prayer: God please help me to be a diligent seeker in Jesus name. Amen.
