Do not be hasty in your decision!
Do not be hasty in your decision!
TEXT: GENESIS 13:10-13
KEY TEXT: “And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.” GENESIS 13:10
Anyone would have expected Lot to allow Abram decide which land he will chose first, being the elder of the two; but alas, Lot looked up and saw something that instigated his rash decision.
Has there not been a time in your life when you are faced with such test of choosing between one thing and the other: be it course of study, marriage partner, place to reside, job opportunities and the likes. May I ask what eventually led to the decision you took. Did you also “look up” like Lot by considering the prospects and goodies derivable from each opportunity without committing it in the hands of thy maker?
It eventually turn out that where Lot chose is a place filled with wickedness, although it had good vegetation that was enticing. That choice presented before you may also seem to have a good prospect, but it may be a bait to cause you to lose all you have ever gotten from God just as it happened to Lot.
We are admonished in scriptures in Proverbs 3:5-7 to -trust in the LORD with all our (thine) heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all your (thy) ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your (thy) paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes….
Lot was wise in his own eyes by choosing a supposedly better place. In all your dealings, let God be at the centre of your decision making.
REFLECTION FOR THE DAY: Never make a decision based on your intellect or experience, commit your ways unto God in prayers and He shall direct your paths.
