Scriptural perfection and readiness for gospel works
Scriptural perfection and readiness for gospel works
2 Timothy 3:16,17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
The scripture is God’s compendium for life’s solutions and guidance. It dictates the originally ordained manner to do acceptable service and devotion. It answers every life’s situations, circumstances, questions, and gives an insight into the afterlife.
Every word of the Bible requires the influence of the Holy Spirit for its essence at any particular instance to matter- John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. The rhema of God’s words comes only to those who truly believe and whose hearts are diligently searching for God and His truths- Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
The key functions of the scripture are highlighted in the text: establishing doctrinal truths, reproofing all ungodliness, correcting wrongdoings, and instructing for righteous living. The scriptures contain the doctrinal instructions for life and they become established in our hearts by faith- Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Just like the making and proper assembly of our physical world by God’s pronouncements, the making of our world i.e everything that our life entail is by the word of God- Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Reproof and correction come as a form of conviction of unrighteousness when we stray from the divine path. Just like the rod of the shepherd to the sheep, God’s words act as an instrument of correction and re-allignment to divine priorities.
In essence, the word of God must be our living and daily bread, consumed through listening, reading, studying, memorizing, quoting, and applying for a fruitful yield and benefit to ourselves and the people around us- Acts 20:28,32 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
