Did you know that you were created after the image and likeness of God so we could be his friends? In Genesis 3:8-9, God came down to fellowship with Adam and Eve but could not find them because they hid themselves from him; this means that before the fall, God fellowshipped with them like his friends but sin broke that relationship. Now we thank God for Jesus Christ who came to restore that friendship man initially had with God. The friendship established by Jesus with his disciples makes us know that God has always wanted to be close to man and relate with man as friends do. Now this is possible as we can now approach the Father through the Son.
Jesus is a friend like no other because knowing fully well that he would die in order to save us from our sin; he still decided to die. His death was not only shameful but extremely painful. In John 15:15, he called his disciples friends not servants; telling them what He heard from the Father. Also in Luke 12:5; he called them his friends and revealed to them things about God that they probably never knew. Even today, he is an amazing friend to everyone who believes in him and who have a relationship with him.
Mediation Who is your friend? Have you made Jesus you friend? If not, invite Him in and ask Him to be your friend.
