Unbroken steadfastness
Unbroken steadfastness
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy might” (Deut. 6:5)
In the evil of today’s world, there is absolutely no other way to serve the Lord outside an unbroken steadfastness. The Devil in his final affront against the saints is poised on doing anything to win a soul to hell. The system of the world is so perfectly skewed against a believer, the demand of the corporate setting is increasingly making a request for the Christian’s consecration moments, the Devil has come openly and brazenly than before, to not just insinuate but to speak audibly like, ‘’give me your time with the Lord and I will reward you with abundance’’.
The old-fiend’s demands should never bewilder us beyond necessary, as he was brazen before our Captain, if he tried our Lord, doubtless it is that he will try us. He makes a greater demand on our time through education school, the job we do, our businesses, our efforts, and worse of it, our church activities, noticed how the Devil has created many activities today even in the church, or rather, how else do we explain men seeking to attend to ‘urgent tasks’ when they were to retire in tears to the penitent form after services. The altars have become dry and so likewise, has the heart of men grown cold to the Holy One!
The holy panacea for an unholy time like this is to strictly adhere to the command of the Master, to love the Lord with one’s whole heart, one’s might and all strength is the definition of an unbroken steadfastness. Oh brethren, we are come to the time where our gaze must on Him be placed, in the morning, at the dining, at our offices, while we sleep, and even at play- if ever we are allowed to play in this precarious moments, for the world is no friend of grace!
Placing our full gaze upon the Lord, looking as if on that alone hangs our redemption, if the Devil has vowed to intensify his final efforts on mankind until all soul perish- if possible, shall we then, the children of light seek repose when at the final lap of the race we are come? God forbid. We must put on our armor, fight like a soldier, and keep an unbroken steadfastness until the face of our Lord we behold.
Meditation
1 Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
2 Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
yet in my dreams I’d be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
3 There let the way appear, steps unto heaven;
all that thou sendest me, in mercy given;
angels to beckon me
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
4 Then, with my waking thoughts bright with thy praise,
out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
so by my woes to be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
5 Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
