The necessity of continual reminder for godly continuation
The Necessity of Continual Reminder For Godly Continuation-
Judges 2:7,10,19.
Forgetfulness and negligence go hand in hand with dissolving the burning altar of our consecration and profession of faith in God. It is humanly to become lethargic and neglect the core component of service to God especially when we have accumulated piles of responsibilities and relations that become a distraction and a hindrance to the very reason of our calling- 2 Chronicles 26:15-16 “for he was marvelously helped, till he was strong. But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God”. We must understand that God doesn’t change neither does His standard. He is no respecter of any man and will always require His reverence and holiness regardless of whatever Spiritual or physical heights we attain.
From our text, there was a transition in leadership among the Israelites with the accompanying problem of forgetfulness of the acts of God and the peculiar demands over their lives. Throughout their wilderness journey, the Lord had commanded Moses and Joshua to set up various ensigns as a memorial of Him to their future generation- Joshua 4:6,7. These memorials are meant to stir up our hearts in earnest longing to see the great work of God and not just mere information or knowledge about His past acts and goodness- Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written in old times were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. We must daily practice the act of remembering God’s unchanging words and commandments. We must always ascribe the glory of our promotion and progress to Him who aids us in all things. Otherwise, we fall into the error of thinking of ourselves as people who have attained perfection and possess self-sufficiency for our journey. This always leads to disappointment and damnable backsliding- 2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God. We must stay grounded in our faith and our sole dependence on the grace of God daily while seeking more of Christ and fellowship with Him- Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
As a finality, we must always heed the voice of God through His Spirit and then contend ceaselessly against any opposing contradictions that seek to distract us from our abiding Continuity in His ordained pathway- Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was necessary for me to write unto you, and exhort you that all of you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
