THE FILTH OF THE WORLD

THE FILTH OF THE WORLD

“Being defamed…we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.”  (I Corin. 4:13)

Apostle Paul in his Christ-like life submitted through experience that as an Apostle of the Lord, he was defamed, and more to that, accounted as filth of the world. In merging thought with Leonard Ravenhill, I also would have thought the sinners, or sin, smokers or cigarette or the committers of iniquity and their iniquities are the filth of the world, but NO. This veteran Apostle laid it down that our Christ who gave his precious life was defamed and accounted as filth of the world- “…a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief…he was despised and we esteemed Him not”; Also, the Apostles who in His train followed shared a portion of His lot, for all- but the son of perdition- were defamed and made as filths of the world they served to save. It was as Paul had his share of this lot he wrote the Corinth brethren in II Corin 4:13, as with a shout of notice, that “all who delight in pursuing righteousness and are determined to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be hunted and persecuted”.

Unfortunately, today, those who wish to follow the path of the Saviour, are blind to the aim of the One who laid down his life to become as a filth trodden underneath of men’s foot, are in frantic pursuit of earthly comfort and air-conditioned pulpit. Many so called workers of the gospel today agree to preach Jesus if it will cost nothing, but rather, the cross itself cost the life of the Saviour. Many would undertake mission journey so long it doesn’t bring pains, but it was in pains that men like Paul travelled on foot and periled their lives on seas.

A man who has not first seen himself ready to be accounted as filth of the world, to be trodden under foot of men, one who has not signed the agreement of being willing to be defamed for the gospel sake is not fit to be called a minister of the gospel. Many parade themselves as ministers today but can bear with Christ no reproach. The Lord is in search of men sold entirely for His cause, may I among the few be accounted as one!

Meditation : — The Lord is in search of men sold entirely for His cause, may I among the few be accounted as one!
