Lord Of The Storm
Lord Of The Storm
“And they shall fight against thee; but shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee” (Jeremiah 1:19)
The Lord here was assuring Jeremiah, during his call as a national prophet, of the challenges he will face as His vessel who shall bear His message to the rebellious nation-Israel. God was assuring him of persecution he will face as well as mortal opposition accompanying the ministry BUT then, the Lord gave him a more profound assurance that they shall not prevail against him, why? He will be with him, for what? To deliver him! What a strong assurance of God’s deliverance. Not just that he will experience persecution from friends and relatives, but the Lord will grant deliverance.
Relatively, the Lord has the same assurance for each of us today, he said, “…in the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. Are you troubled under the load of care and tribulation; does your cross seem heavy to bear, or your troubles seem overblown and ever lingering? Just as the Lord promised Jeremiah deliverance, he promised YOU of victory, infact, in assuring you of the victory ahead he made a request that you should be of good cheer. Amazing!
The Lord may be in your boat while He allows the storm; they are not to peril you but to put your faith to test and strengthen your trust in Him. In the storm do you go to Jesus and tell him to ‘awake’ and calm the storm as he usually does or do you panic, shudder and grouse? The Lord is in your storm, don’t be alarmed, be of good cheer for He who created the storm can calm it. The disciples after trying all human attempts rushed to wake the Master who rebuked the storm.
Put to rest all human efforts today, in child-like faith, go to the Lord of the storm in good cheer of faith and let him calm the storm.
