Grace Doesn’t Tolerate Sin
Grace Doesn’t Tolerate Sin
Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Righteousness and sinfulness are two mutually exclusive elements with no middle ground and no gray area. The grace of God is associated with righteousness and has the potential to prevent and adequately cover against any form of sinfulness and temptations. But those who try to use grace as a disparition from following Christ, sinning and quoting grace, remaining as they were before with the assumption that grace will cover them and justify sin and worldliness, are simply deceiving themselves. The only man who has the right to say that he is justified by grace alone is the man who has left all to follow Christ. Such a man knows that the call to discipleship is a gift of grace, and the call is inseparable from grace. Such a man is dead to sin. Our death to sin makes us alive to God and brings the grace of God into full expression- Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon all of you also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
It is clear that the perfection of our redemption is found in our continuous walking with God and holding firmly to the word of God. Grace is available for you when you leave sin to follow Christ, not staying in sin and saying grace is sufficient. The evidence that you have obtained grace is the enablement to leave sin and its allurement completely- 1Cor. 15 : 1- 2 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
1 Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount out-poured–
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.
Refrain:
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
2 Sin and despair, like the sea-waves cold,
Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater– yes, grace untold–
Points to the Refuge, the mighty Cross. [Refrain]
3 Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
All who are longing to see His face,
Will you this moment His grace receive? [Refrain]
