Dethrone Absalom
Dethrone Absalom
2SAMUEL 19:9-10
KEY TEXT: “And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?” 2 SAMUEL 19:10 (KJV)
Is it not shocking to see men dethrone their loving king, and enthrone a cruel one? Is it not an unfortunate situation to have God’s people rejecting their Messiah for Barabbas, a thief? Truly God who sees from the beginning had declared, “He came unto His own, and His own received Him not.” (John 1:11)
Such is the situation of many who are called today. Many who proclaimed to be of Christ, but exhibit the behaviour of the devil’s kingdom. They, who have rejected Him, the fountain of living waters, and have sought for a broken cistern that can hold no water.
In our text, the people of Israel rejected their deliverer; the king who delivered them from the hand of their enemies and anointed over their lives Absalom to rule over them. As a result the king fled out of their lives leaving them alone.
Like the Israelite, what Absalom have we anointed over our lives that has caused the King to flee away from us? Is our anointed Absalom money, desire for fame, worldly amusement and pleasure? Is it a man or woman? What Absalom has rendered our lives desolate of the King of kings?
We must dethrone them today! We must surrender our lives back to God to take over. We must dethrone every Absalom and bring back the King of Glory.
REFLECTION FOR THE DAY: The reign of God in us brings unspeakable glory.
