Burn to attract
Burn to attract
Text: Exodus 3:1–6
Key Text: “And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight…” EXODUS 3:3 (KJV)
Though a bush harbours all sorts of dangerous animals, yet it is a great sight to us to watch it burning with fire. Its flame and heat captures the passer-by’s attention to watch how the flames erupt to the sky.
Such was the same experience for Moses when he saw the bush burning. It was a miraculous wonder that drew him away from his duty post; to watch a bush that was burning but not consumed for the angel of the Lord had appeared in a flame of fire out of the midst of the bush, causing the bush to burn with fire and yet the bush was not consumed.
This singular miraculous work of God caught the attention of the young Moses to turn, and look up to his Maker. Moses curiosity and desire to turn to God through the burning bush paved the way for the work of salvation for the nation of Israel.
The Christians are a bush who Christ has come to save of all wild animals, and set them on fire of the Holy Ghost that we might burn for others to see and be attracted to God. We are saved and baptized with the Holy Ghost to burn for God.
Beloved, is your life burning and attracting sinners to Christ? Is your life a fire whose heat draws men and melts every cold heart? Saved by Christ and baptized with the Holy Ghost and fire, we are to burn and attract the world to Christ.
REFLECTION FOR THE DAY: Christian living is one of God’s divine means of attracting sinners. How are you living yours?
