Be Careful For Nothing
Be Careful For Nothing
“Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.” (Phil 4:6)
Apostle Paul’s writing to the Philippi brethren is a letter borne of genuine love, they have contributed largely to his ministry, and quite apart, the letter to the Philippians is so rich that its application to Christians today will doubtless procure an excelling walk with Jesus.
Here, he taught about ANXIETY. Men are bound to be anxious when challenges arise to which they have no instant solution towards, it is a possibility unlocked during the fall of man, such that even Christian may sometimes be found in the mire of anxiety. Paul realized this and accompanied his admonition to all saints that, we should be careful for nothing.
Realistically, can we then say that we can actually live without being concerned about extant concerning realities? A woman who is almost a decade in marriage without fruit of the womb, a diligent business man running at a loss, a missionary on the mission field with sweats and tears without souls saved yet, and many more? Would these ones not really be concerned? Truly, they will be concerned. But, the instruction we must adhere to as believers is not to get anxious while those things stood as challenges before us.
Jesus warned explicitly against this when he said, “…which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” A Christian must be aware that anxiety is an enemy of faith, and the moment a Christian is anxious, the Devil gains leverage, for the Devil through anxiety serves depression, and through depression he can serve anything destructive meal he wishes.
No one ever is sad or depressed without going through the lane of anxiety, anxiety opens door to the enemy, and in-fact, I can experientially confirm that, the more one lingers in anxiety, the farther answers to prayers come, the less you take a thought of those trouble and pray in faith on them, the swifter heaven releases answer. Many times, it is our anxiety that deprives our answer; God never answers ANY prayer of an anxious believer. Leave the pit of depression, and walk away from the lane of anxiety, then, “enter into His gates with thanksgiving (at least of your salvation and many blessings) and into His court with praise, be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalm 100:4)
Until God has emptied us of anxiety before He can fill us with divine blessings, both don’t cohabit, for they are from different sources. While God gives blessings, the Devil gives anxiety and you can’t bear both in your vessel. The Lord is waiting for you to be emptied totally of anxiety that he may pour on thee His bounteous blessings!
Be careful for nothing!
Meditation
1 Why should I feel discouraged,
Why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely,
And long for heav’n and home;
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant Friend is he;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know he watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know he watches me.
Refrain:
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free;
For his eye is on the sparrow,
And I know he watches me.
2 “Let not your heart be troubled,”
His tender word I hear,
And resting on his goodness,
I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path he leadeth,
But one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know he watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know he watches me. [Refrain]
3 Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise;
When songs give place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to him,
From care he sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know he watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know he watches me. [Refrain]
