Your Life’s Decisions and Prayer?

 Your Life’s Decisions and Prayer?

We thank the Lord for His grace on our life and for another opportunity today, may the Lord send His word to us again and enlighten our eyes to see Him in Jesus name Amen.

We appreciate God for another encounter this afternoon and give all thanks to God for helping us so far, today’s topic is expedient for the following reasons:

1. You are a product of the path you have taken in life, at the point of your decisions you are a product of the path you have taken

2. You are human and in the realm of this dimension we are limited in our understanding of what lies ahead and the path to take. Many of us are running with energy but in a wrong direction, but when a man has taken a wrong decision speed is never an advantage.

3. At crossroads of life, there are always voices and most times the loudest of them come to us from acquaintances and friends, they seem compelling because they are people we can see, they are speaking from experiences and they are voices to reckon with but one thing you never know is that they have never known the dictate of the master over your life, they cannot grasp the depth of what God has planned for you, in short we fall for their antics many a times.

Genesis 12: 1- 5; [1] “The Lord had said to Abram, Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. [2] I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. [3] I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. [4] So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.[5] He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

Isaiah 30:12; “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

Acts 13: 2; “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.”

You can never know the direction of God if you have not been in communion with him:

Nobody can hear or see the full spectrum of the plan of God for your life except you, men may get a glimpse of it but can never get it and that is why the level to which you have developed intimacy with God will determine the extent of information you have concerning your existence with God. Jer. 33: 3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

From this scripture it is clear that when we call on God we want answers bit actually our life runs on instruction and that is what God is always ready to give us. One instruction obeyed is greater than one million prayers without instruction. The Question today is this; How much information do you have about your existence and life journey or you just believe in living life as it comes, as you know if a man lacks information, not just that he lacks information is the challenge but such a person will lack preparation, most information we receive from God in the place of prayer is for our preparation.

The greatest power of prayer is actually instruction and information, answers are the least of the intent, and the reason is that, instruction base your life on the principle of God which is eternal and immortal while answers to prayer may just be once. Therefore don’t grow intimacy with God because you need a job or a house that is the least of it, it is because is under intimacy that you will understand what has been written concerning you. Yes the Bible is written for all but inside it are layers and pages beyond the views of men, the Bible is the first layer of contact towards revealing the deep things of God to you and that is why Jesus keep emphasizing what has been written.

Heb. 10:7 “Then I said, Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.”

Now, how can you understand what is written concerning you? You can only understand to the extent God has revealed it to you. You are living today based on the extent of what you can see, not the extent of the mind of God for your life.

Luke 4: 17-23 [17] And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, [18] The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, [19] To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. [20] And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. [21] And he began to say unto them, this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. [22] And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

The same book was in the temple before Jesus came but while others were reading it without any revelation, when Jesus came the Spirit of God was upon him that was the difference and he knew the scripture that was written concerning him and that was it. When the Spirit of God comes on you, you will understand what exactly is written of you and then at the cross roads you will never make any mistake because His spirit would lead you. Today we struggle on anything but intimacy, the enemy prefer we spend time on many things except prayer, we may even attends several meetings, several men of God lay hand on us, we may even be so occupy with God but if we never fan the flame of our fellowship with God in prayer and intimacy, we continue to live a life based on chance and not prescription. Why do we prefer to struggle than seek the mind of God? Why do we prefer to expend effort than stay with Him, why do we prefer to do many things except staying with Him? We cannot miss four hours with God on Sunday which is great but our personal intimacy should even take higher value than any service or program. While those ones are great, remember it is only in personal intimacy that God has the opportunity to talk and relate with you personally?

All our programs, Bible reading, fellowship, workers meeting, seminars, camp meeting should produce one thing, a man and a woman that has continued to developed intimacy with God, if all these programs do not increase your intimacy with Him, they have never yielded the result of heaven

I know you are busy. I know Lagos is challenging but in all these if you can get your place of intimacy right, taking daily decisions becomes easy as you are constantly in His presence

QUESTIONS:

  1. Why do you think Men are not hearing God today? Why do you think men do not know what to do at crossroads of life?

Answers: (I). God speaks and if we do not hear him, it is because we do not give him the needed attention.

(II). We are not “still” in the presence of God.

God is always speaking but he wants to have your attention before he speaks. Take this exercise, go for a three days fasting and prayer retreat and see how much of what God will speak to you in those three days. The question is would you have heard if you were busy with so many things? Does it mean God was not ready to speak? In the heart of God are volumes to download to us but once intimacy is impaired we cannot hear Him well again. Have you asked why it has been more than five months that you heard God? It nothing than intimacy, we are carefully using the word intimacy and prayer because if you pray religious prayers you may not hear him, you only hear him when you are connected. Therefore, ensure you don’t just pride in prayer but in deep connection and intimacy a fellowship beyond letters to the depth where God alone is your fan and nobody matters.

This is the end of our open Mic. today until next week, stay blessed and please remain connected with God, don’t allow the traffic of the city to take you off His plan for you.

Closing Prayer: Father, we appreciate you for the way you have encountered us this afternoon, Lord may these words mix with faith in us and profit us in Jesus Name. Amen.
