Text: Exodus 20:12-13, Deuteronomy 5:16-17.

Memory Verse:  “You shall not murder.” Exodus 20:13

Thou shall not kill

This commandment is very clear and easy to understand. God told the Israelites not to commit murder; that is killing each other. This doesn’t just mean for us not to kill each other, but that we should not do anything that will harm or bring pain to other people or make them wish they were dead. Every person is created by God and for God, and He loves them as much as He loves you. In Matthew 5:21-22, Jesus made us understand that we should not even be angry with a brother or sister or friend for no reason; because if you are, you are in danger of judgment. God wants us to care for people and love our neighbour as we love ourselves.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to love people around me even as you love me.
