Taught of the Lord.

Taught of the Lord.
Text: Isaiah 54:13 All your children shall be taught by the LORD, And great shall be the peace of your children.

Some years ago, while I was going to work, I saw a woman wearing a beautiful dress. Her style of clothing, however, had a slit on both shoulders, revealing her shoulders, I admired her clothing for a while and thought to myself, I love this clothing as a woman myself, but I know that the Holy Spirit will not let me have such a dress. In my Spirit, I queried this thought of being disallowed to own such clothes with that style. In response to my query, a scripture ministered: Titus 2:11,12: 11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Emphasis was laid for me on the first word in verse 12- “teaching”. It dawned on me that I was taught of God. His grace taught me and restrained me so to say from going against that which He taught me, God’s grace amongst other things teaches us. It teaches us all things and how to live in this present world (remember how He said his spirit will teach us all things- John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you). This entails how to interact, dress, live, talk, and coordinate oneself to please the Lord. He could also teach us how to go about our daily tasks. Many of us neglect the only companion we need in life who can teach us. We would rather go ahead doing life by ourselves thereby struggling and being burdened. This is because most of us believe that God is only interested in the “Spiritual” part of our lives (whatever that means though) forgetting that we have only one life, and this one life that we have, He wants us to live it as He teaches.
In another part, He also, through His Spirit teaches us how to pray- Luke 11:1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples”. Prayer is a fundamental attribute of any Christian and the gateway to worshipping God. It is one of the core ways we interact and develop a relationship with God. However, not all prayers are acceptable or proficient for yielding results. Neither can the human ability produce a sustainable habit of prayer. We need to rely on the teachings of the Holy Spirit in our hearts to establish a progressive and stable connection with God in prayer- Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
