PRAISE YE THE LORD

PRAISE YE THE LORD

“Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children of men.”  Psalm 107:15

Often men, and by this I mean believers, are caught in the web of living blindly to the wonderful works of God, and very seldom they may praise God as a formality to tender a new slate of requests. But David here started this particular verse with an exclamation seeing afresh the urgency and importance for praising God- “Oh that men would praise the Lord…”

Praise the Lord for his goodness, it was the same that made him give His eternally perfect life in exchange of our wretched life, to procure free unto us salvation; praise Him for His wonderful works that did transform a sinner worthy of death to becoming a saint prepared for heaven! Even in the midst of the most distressing circumstance, the praise of God our King our tongue ought to employ.

Praise Him for the good times, and thank Him for the bad times too; praise the Lord for answered prayers, thank Him for the ones He denied; praise Him for the victories and give praise for the disappointments; praise Him for the sunny moments and thank Him for the dreary seasons. Was it not in praise that Jehoshaphat overcame the host of the enemy in an offensive against him, and Joshua prevailed against a fortified Jericho, is this not what men was created for afterall, and what the elders and angels do continually before the throne of God.

meditation: Enter His gate with thanksgiving and his court with praise, praise ye the Lord
