Fix your eyes on Jesus

Fix your eyes on Jesus

Matthew 14:23-31

Key Text: “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” MATTHEW 14:30

When Jesus Christ bid Peter come and meet him, Peter confidently left the boat not minding that he will likely sink on his way to meet Jesus who was walking on the sea.

The journey which started as a step of faith eventually became one filled with fear when Peter shifted his gaze from the goal (Jesus) and began to see the boisterous wind.

The wind has been boisterous even before he stepped out of the boat but his full gaze on Jesus at that time never allowed him to even notice it. But immediately his eyes lost focus on Jesus, fear crept in and he started sinking until Christ held out his hand to save him.

In our race as believers, we may not be able to stop the wind from being boisterous but if we focus our attention on the wind (cares of this world), we are definitely going to drown in the midst of the sea. Our victory is connected to continual gazing on Jesus Christ who is the author and finisher of our faith.

Reflection for the day: Our full gaze on Jesus will help us not to derail on our path.
