Covenant Of Fruitfulness
Covenant Of Fruitfulness
Luke 13:6-9.
A covenant is an agreement between two parties or individuals. The responsibilities of each party in the covenant are negotiated and agreed upon, upon which a breach brings a sanction or judgment. It also usually involves a witness or mediator. From the text, the covenant agreement is between God, the vineyard owner (owner of man’s life and soul), and the man, the tree; the mediator here is Christ, the vine dresser. Christ has planted man (us) in God’s vineyard (kingdom) through His vicarious sacrifice on Calvary, with the expectation of delivering our fruits to God- Isaiah 43:21.
Fruitlessness is a breach of the covenant agreement. Christ’s workings of digging and dunging with the word of God through the Holy Spirit is to assist us in bringing forth the expected fruits of soul-winning, service, and devotedness to God. Anything short of these expectations breaches the covenant agreement.
Every 24 hours of the day brings us a new opportunity to bear fruits- “Let it alone this year (this day)”. God doesn’t owe us anything for our service (Luke 17:10), although as a benevolent father, He has promised to reward all our acceptable labors in His vineyard- Hebrew 6:10; Revelation 22:12. He expects our utmost and effective fruitfulness to His command every day.
We must determine to be fruitful, dutiful, accountable, and effective fruit bearers in God’s kingdom every day. I must daily evaluate my actions and services to God’s kingdom agenda of preaching, praying, and personal devotion. I must live my life entirely for God’s kingdom on earth, barring any distractions, appeals, and allurements of the world’s system. This is the priority of my life.

Remember John 15 :: NIV. “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
Meditation: ‘I must live my life entirely for God’s kingdom on earth, barring any distractions, appeals, and allurements of the world’s system. This is the priority of my life.’ Have you made this decision also?
