Blurring The Lines
Blurring The Lines
Matthew 13:24-30.
Key verse: Matthew 13:25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.
These days when you hear gospel preachers or musicians, there’s hardly any distinction between them and secular speakers and singers alike. We have denigrated the sanctuary of the Lord and turned it into an unrecognizable sinful ambiance where showmanship and glittering camaraderie rule the day.
The painful thing stated in the text is that satan in his devilish wisdom makes a great deliberate effort to sow his seed(ideas) at any instance of weakness or in any weak leader/minister/congregation and goes his way to another venture leaving that seed to fester without his progressive input. We gave the devil one mile and he has gained million miles on us, we gave him a room and he has collected the entire house- Galatians 2:4-5 And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
We are now making vibes in the church, we are now showing our steeze in the Holy Ghost, churning out lyrics like rap artists, adapting trending sound beats and dance steps into our worship. We say, what difference does it make if our male ministers weave their hair, or wear body tattoos, is God not looking at the heart? What a sad pity! Our gatherings now look like a clubhouse and we all gyrate in the presence of our “Father”. We forget what the scriptures say about the end-time, we forget that angels of darkness can masquerade as angels of light, we forget that satan was once a fiery angel in heaven and he knows and can teach his emissaries to camouflage heavenly presence with dark intent. Dear Christian, wake up! The simplicity of the gospel is fast losing its uniqueness to a wanton alliance with the world. We can now collaborate with worldly artists for gospel songs, and invite jokers to our holy pulpits to jest. We say they are also children of God and God loves everyone regardless of their ways. We are bewitched- Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? The flesh now occupies our services as the chief entertainer. Church events/programs are sponsored by individuals of questionable characters. Miracles and financial breakthroughs are now the hallmarks of being children of God. May God have mercy on us.
What must we do:
- We must genuinely repent individually and collectively; then live righteously and soberly according to the scriptures- 2 Corinthians 6:17 Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”
- We must speak out and stand out against all unrighteousness in our gatherings and programs according to the knowledge of the scriptures through the Holy Spirit- John 2:14-17 (verse 16 And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!”).
Songs of the Evening Light, 1897 (Timeless Truths)
1 Have you heard the trumpet sounding?
Have you heard the angel’s call?
Flee from sin and sect confusion,
Come to Zion, one and all.
Refrain:
Come out from among them,
Come out from among them,
Oh, do not partake of her sins;
Come out from among them,
Come out from among them,
For her judgment already begins.
2 Sound the tidings o’er creation,
Let God’s faithful children know;
Sinful sects and all division,
Separate them here below. [Refrain]
3 Hear that voice from heaven, brother,
Heed the warning, come today;
Leave the names and creeds of Babylon,
Take the holy Bible way. He has said, [Refrain]
4 “My people know Me,
And My voice they will obey;
So, if you are Mine, you’ll prove it
Just by doing what I say.” [Refrain].
